Flight
to Mars
Monogram, 1951, Cinecolor, 72 min.
Another
one of the "first manned-landing on Mars" films, this production
contained a single stage rocketship that - like most - was launched
from an upright position on our wold and was supposed land vertically
from then on. Alas, it crashlanded on the Red Planet after it passed
through a meteorite shower and stranded the crew there. Quite by
accident, the astronauts located an undergroud city inhabited by
humanoids and together they rebuild the interplanetary craft. The
return trip was made by both Earthlings and Martians. The spaceship
was used again in It, the Terror
from Beyond Space
