Project Moonbase

Project Moonbase
Lippert, 1953, B&W, 63 min.

The movie is based on a screenplay by Robert A. Heinlen. It is pieced together from the initial episodes of an unaried television series "Ring Around the Moon". The first manned rocket flight to the Moon occurred in 1970, according to this film. Multi-staged veicles are launched from the Earth and docked at an orbiting space platform. From there, a non-areodynamic craft, takes off for a mapping mission of the Moon. Three people are aboard the Moonflight: a woman and two men. One of the men turnns out to be a communist saboteur. The spy is eventually killed, but a return trip becomes impossible because of his handiwork. Fortunately, there are enough supplies to last the remaining couple until a rescue ship arrives
