Rocketship X-M

Rocketship X-M
Lippert, 1950, B&W, 78 min.

Occasionally, rocketships end up getting diverted from their course. This sort of thing happens to the bullet-shaped Rocketship Expedition Moon (RX-M for short), which was supposed to land on the Moon; the craft sets down on Mars instead. There, the five-person crew comes upon the remains of a decayed Martian civilization and decides that this is the result of an atomic war. Later, some radiation-scarred mutants attacks the explorers and only three astronauts make it back to the craft. They take off for Earth, bu lack of fuel causes them to crashland. V-2 stock footage was used for the ship take-off and in various other scenes. When producer/distributor Wade Williams obtained the rights to this film in the late 70s, he had all the scenes using stock footage replaced with new action, using a Tom Sherman miniature of the original rocket model.
