ABOUT
PETER ELSON
AND ME

The
artworks on this page are made by me and are clearly inspired on
some illustrations by Peter Elson.
Besides hundreds of book covers, many of his illustrations appear
in the 1979 book "Great Space Battles" (by Stewart Cowley and Charles
Herridge).
This book was a part of a collection of four large illustrated science
fiction books published between 1978 and 1980.
The books titles was:
* Spacecraft 2000-2100 AD
* Great Space Battles
* SpaceWreck: Ghost Ships and Derelicts of Space
* Starliners: Commercial Travel in 2200 AD
The
books formed a connected space-opera milieu, describing the future
history of mankind's expansion into the galaxy, presented in the
guise of official handbooks by the Terran Trade Authority organization
from which the "historical" setting of the books takes its name.
Many was the illustrators of these books, but one of them was seminal
for me and for my "spaceship design taste". His name is Petere Elson.
Peter Elson works was one of the reasons for which I have developed
my career in the field of Science Fiction illustration.
This website, is my tribute to this great master of science fiction
illustrations and his almost forgotten work.
